Top Five Reasons Why Window Treatments Matter in the Workspace

Window treatments can have a surprising effect on your business. While it may not seem like it right away, there are many different benefits to consider that go well beyond comfort level. In fact, when chosen correctly, window treatments can actually help your company and its employees thrive in a more successful environment. Check out the top five reasons why window treatments matter in the workspace:

  1. Energy Costs

Depending on the fabric and type of shade, window treatments can help with the temperature of your building. For example, both white shade fabric, and Koolblack, the innovative, new dark fabric from Mermet, reflect heat back out, putting less stress and demand on your HVAC system. Also, automated shade systems integrate with lighting control and automatically react to the position of the sun and real-time lighting conditions.

  1. Productive Work Environment

Did you know that employees with more light exposure at the office had better sleep, increased physical activity and quality of life compared to office workers with less light exposure in the workplace? That’s because daylight promotes human health and well-being. Studies have found that employees who worked in environments that allowed for plenty of natural sunlight were less stressed and more focused on tasks. When choosing window treatments for your business space, be sure to choose a style that brings in plenty of natural sunshine while also balancing the issues that too much sun and glare can bring.

  1. Limited Screen Glare

While daylight may promote increased human health and well-being, one of the downsides of sitting near windows is the inevitable glare that occurs on computer screens. Window treatments, particularly automated shades with darker fabrics, provide employees the option to adjust accordingly to get rid of those pesky glares and still allow for natural light to shine through the room.

  1. Privacy and Security

The privacy and security of your business is always important, which is why it’s crucial that your window treatment option provides you and your employees the most peace of mind. Adding curtains or blinds, such as Halcyon, to the windows in your office or conference room gives you complete control over how much of your business can be seen from the outside, which can come in handy during confidential meetings.

  1. Aesthetics Benefits

For any office space, the design is what leaves a lasting impression on its employees and visitors. Your office is a reflection of who you are as a company. Window treatments allow you the option to customize your company’s interiors with styles including traditional, rustic, formal, and modern, which can increase the aesthetic appeal and professionalism of your business. No matter what the style, window treatments are a great way to enhance the beauty of a workspace, and improve the overall atmosphere for your employees.

Ver-Tex Helps Bristol-Myers Squibb Bring Biologics Opportunities to Massachusetts

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) is a global biopharmaceutical company whose mission is to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to help better the lives of patients battling serious diseases. In 2013, the New York City-based biopharmaceutical company behind the popular antidepressant drug, Abilify, planned a $250 million expansion of its large-scale biologics manufacturing facility in Devens, Massachusetts.

Located 45 miles west of Boston, the 89-acre site accommodates a large-scale bulk biologics facility. The site includes four main buildings: a BioPharma manufacturing facility, a central utility building, an administrative/quality control building and a warehouse/storage structure. With the hopes of adding 350 jobs to its Devens facility, BMS was in need of a top-notch project management and installation solution to fit the needs of its new 89-acre site. Ver-Tex worked with the general contractor, Lend Lease, to install toilet partitions, wall protection, lockers, fire extinguishers and cabinets, warehouse racking, motorized file storage systems, custom glass marker boards, appliances, wire mesh partitions, shades and a FabriTRAK® System, a unique product that effectively combines acoustic performance and artistic imagery.

The state of Massachusetts is the country’s center for medical education and research, so it came as no surprise that news of the expansion received positive feedback. “This is a great example of why life sciences have become top job creators in the state,” said Susan Windham-Bannister, president, and CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. She has also said, “The real draw for large companies to Massachusetts is our pipeline of early-stage companies. They want a front-row seat, and we want to invest in making this a good ecosystem for them to be part of.”

By partnering with Ver-Tex and the latest project management and installation solutions in Divisions 09, 10, 11, 12, and 16, BMS is now a space to discover innovative solutions that enhance various environmental, health and safety operational practices.
